It would be more fun if the city plowed my street... still no plows, I
just dug a ton more out. I need to find a nice gasoline powered snow
blower... preferably next summer, second hand, when they are cheap.

No data on my mobile phone, no text messaging either... I pay 5 cents
per minute for calls, which equates to a few bucks per month. I have
DSL service at home.

I do have one car with a USB drive radio, and I keep random music stored
on a drive in that car. None of my other car stereos have that option.

Brian has confirmed that John was diagnosed with MS. Either way, that's
not an excuse for jobs, especially since John once posted that it hasn't
flared up in years.

Hmmm... was his MS "diagnosed" at the ER, like his bipolar condition was...???

I am a target shooter. I think shooting is a perfectly acceptable
recreational activity. I think that carrying a handgun around for self
defense is a disaster waiting to happen. You never know what stupid
little thing is going to be so offensive to someone that they would pull
out a gun.

You can get away with shooting someone here, but you have to be
defending yourself from the threat of serious injury or death. We also
have safe storage laws. If you have time to go and get your firearm,
which is trigger locked or in a locked cabinet, or both in the case of a
handgun, and to get the ammunition that is in another location then you
were not in a desperate enough situation to use a gun.

Hilarious, the many various ways of reaching verdicts. Funny the way you agree with me on this, it has an almost lynch mob feel to it. "Wait a minute - was he driving a BMW? Well, that explains it. Guilty!" End of story. Funny. I feel the same about the courtroom. Forego the witnesses and all the other legal mumbo jumbo, go on photographs alone. A pic of the defendant from 4 angles, two from the front, two profiled, should be enough in the hands of the right Judge. Deeply intuitive - able to dig deep into the photo and concentrate so strongly he begins to vibrate and shake before finally getting the low down via the mirror of his soul. The Judge looks at the spectators who arrived to watch him work his magic. "Guilty", he says. Reporters converge on him asking, "What did you see, what did you see in his face that made you reach this decision." The Judge says, "I can't explain it, it's an ESP type thing and only a few have it. I mean I fully understand it, it's just hard to explain it. It's one of those, "Hey, if you gotta ask what it is you'll never know", type things. "Court adjourned."

No argument here. Not only a disaster waiting to happen, it could be a Bernhard Goetz subway shooter type thing where he carried not so much for protection as for a chance for something to happen so he could use it. I'm sure in the right hands it can come in handy, so I am not opposed but am also not a fan. I'm on the fence with this one (with a gun pointed at my head).

Some guys carry a gun and get into altercations and actually forget they're carrying the gun. I had a regular cab customer who confessed that to me, said he got into an altercation with two guys and they were working him over pretty good (and he had the marks to prove it), and I asked him why he didn't pull his gun on them, as he had told me before that he just started carrying one. He said he forgot he had it on him. The whole time he's taking a pounding from two guys and he's got a gun in his pocket and forgets about it. Funny.

I am not into weapons but did carry a 15 ounce metal rod encased in leather. Not a sap, more of a small club. Very heavy, very dense. But carrying it was a chore. I'd use it mainly for walking home after parking the cab at the owner's house. Here I am carrying the thing for protection and I'd see a cop coming slowly down the street looking at me, then taking a slow u-turn with me tossing the weapon into the bushes or a trash can for later retrieval. Funny, carrying a weapon for protection and having to ditch it because the cops might frisk me for whatever reason. I was younger. The main reason I owned the club instead of a gun is that I was a heavy drinker at the time, did a lot of stupid irresponsible things just for laughs, and knew if I got into one of those stupid moods it would be a lot harder to beat myself to death with a club than to shoot myself with a gun. So I not only never carried a gun, I didn't want one around period. But I am not against them or even those who carry them, although I'm sure some are assholes or psychos, which of course can be found on either end of the spectrum.

Verdict - rendered!

I've heard the same story. They usually make pretty good food for
prisoners. I once heard that it was to prevent food fights... of
course, that could have been a speculation, I can't verify.

No, I like to keep things free and clear and flowing. My point is, not that it's important - it's just another opinion of which I have many - that the human being as well as all life forms are nothing but need machines from day one. All are born of hunger. The different forms different creatures took on over time all revolved around food, wouldn't you say? We probably had no legs in the beginning, but grew them over millions of years or centuries, for the express purpose of getting around to gathering and shoveling food into our mouths. It's all about the mouth. The rest of the body is working for the mouth. Same goes for all creatures. I think it's funny because it is funny. At least I'm laughing. I am also saying that we have two main holes, the mouth and the asshole, and that as much as I love talking about assholes and other nether regions, let's be honest, the mouth had to come first. So next time you eat be grateful for your asshole. And the next time you wipe your ass be equally grateful for your mouth.

I'm gay. I grew up Catholic. If I had had a choice, I would have chosen to be straight. I didn't
know any gay people growing up; it never seemed to be an option. I've given it a go with
women, but I'm just not attracted to them in the same way as I am to men. Ask your LGBT
friends what their experiences were. Ask your straight friends. Consider your own experience.
Do you remember choosing a gender to be attracted to, or did your feelings come naturally?

Many people have tried to change their sexual orientation, mostly to avoid social stigma or
for religious reasons, and lots of scientific research has shown this doesn't work and actually
is extremely psychologically damaging and increases the suicide rate

I agree with Joan, they are McDonald's quality Chinese. What I mean, is
they aren't terrible, but typical cheap fast chain food... (almost) any
local Chinese shop will do far better.

but I suspect that she'd rather be assembling cell phones.
